Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman was a woman of many talents and jobs in the Civil War. She helped in many ways: including being an Underground Railroad instructor, a nurse, and a spy. Tubman was born into slavery, and her owners were abusive. In result of this, she suffered a head injury. Her owner attempted to sell her due to this disability, but the owner unexpectedly died, and Tubman escaped. She escaped via the Underground Railroad in Pennsylvania. A few years later, she helped her family, and almost 100 others, escape from slavery through the Railroad. After all of this, she went down to South Carolina to provide help as a nurse and worked alongside General David Hunter as a spy for the Union Army.
