Battle of Bull Run
This was the first major clash of the Civil War between the Confederates and the Union. The Union thought that it was going to be very easy to defeat so they took it easy, not going in with all effort. The Confederates ended up winning the battle and totally changed the perspective of the Union for the rest of the war.
Battle of Antietam
The Battle of Antietam contained one of the most historic days in the United States military as a whole. This was already the second battle of the Civil War. On September 17, 1862 America had one of the most bloodiest, goriest days in history with over 26,000 casualties in 12 hours
The Turning Point
After the victory the of Antietam, Lincoln decided to make some changes. This made "All slaves in rebellion areas to be immediately freed! ... Border states with slavery are allowed to continue on with their slaves!" From there he went crazy with new decisions, he created the conscription for military, suspended the Writ of Habeus Corpus, and declared it was officially legalized for African American men to be in the Union Army
Battle of Chancellorsville
By this battle it is the third battle of the Civil War, between the Union and Confederacy. The Union does lose the battle to the confederacy but President Lincoln decides to fire general Joseph Hooker. General Stonewall Jackson dies, and right after Robert Lee demands attack on the North.
BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG
Now one of the most known battles of the Civil War. The Battle of Gettysburg was taken place from July 1 - July 3, 1863 in a small town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Union does end up winning the battle but another general was fired from the Army by President Lincoln. Lincoln later on that year came up with the Gettysburg Address to dedicate a National Cemetery that would take place there.
The Battle of Vicksburg
The Battle of Vicksburg was one of the most successful battles. General U.S. Grant captured the city of Vicksburg, Mississippi, which means that they took control of the Mississippi River and divided the south. Lincoln that promotes Grant to one of the main military generals.
The Ending
With the election of 1864, coming fairly close to the ending Lincoln needed the war to the end. Lincoln has General Sherman take or do anything he can to destroy anything in his way through Georgia, and Carolina's. Later lee has no choice to surrender to Grant because they are unarmed and surrounded.
The Mastermind
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president, the master mind behind the Civil War. He was born February 12, 1809. 5 days after the ending of the war he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth at Ford Theater. Even though Lincoln died he still gets the credit he deserved. The whole plan of the Civil War, the decisions, and himself leading America to success.
