The Golden Ages
This painting, by Jonannes Theodor Baargeld, captures the spirit of Dadaism. While Dadaism was created during the war in Zurich, Switzerland, the art form really flourished during the Weimar republic, and many german artists adapted the form. Dadaism was a way to protest and revolt against the past world war, however, it was quite popular. Many Dada artists revolted against war and decided to show this in their artwork, which was very popular in post-war Germany. It was meant to shock the public and get across certain controversial ideas. Some would even say Dada artists rejected society's rules and wanted complete freedom. However, this new form of protest was accepted, and Dadaism boomed, even if it was a form of revolt.
