QR Challenge: Procedures Scavenger Hunt ANSWERS 2013

Created using the ClassTools QR Treasure Hunt Generator

Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

Question

Answer

1. Always turn in work to the tray for your hour. NEVER put items on my desk! 1
2. Keep your folder in the tub for your hour. This folder does not go home with you! It will have your make up work in it if you are absent. 2
3. Get extra supplies from the Lost and Found box. Please only take what you need for this class.3
4. No! Unless you are absent for an extended amount of time, you will be able to use the textbook in class without taking it home. You may check one out from the library if you end up needing one at home sometimes.4
5. Ummm…no! I’m not your charging station! However, if we are using technology in class and your battery gets low, we can work something out.5
6. You may sharpen your pencil when you need to, as long as you are not interrupting someone who is speaking. Be polite!6
7. Your missing work should be in your folder. Unless there is a sub or we did something that did not have a handout, it will be there. You will still need to catch up on notes or reading.7
8. You may bring drinks with lids, but no food is allowed during class. 8
9. NO! Unless they lose. Then Mrs. Buteyn would love to talk about how overrated they are. 9
10. Using your best manners, ask Mrs. Buteyn for a pass. You must have your own NW agenda in order to get a pass out of the classroom.10
11. Using your best manners, ask Mrs. Buteyn for a pass. You must have your own NW agenda in order to get a pass out of the classroom.11
12. From the cabinet at the back of the room. Be sure to put them all away at the end of class!12
13. Look at the posted schedule or look in my agenda. 13
14. Look at the posted information on the board. 14
15. Yes! Mrs. Buteyn went to Wichita State to earn a degree in English education. Later, she earned a master’s degree in special education from Southwestern College. Recently, she finished her English as a Second Language certification from Newman University. 15
16. YES!!!! A more polite question is, “Mrs. Buteyn, could you please let me know what we did last time in class?” 16
17. This is Mrs. Buteyn’s 14th year of teaching. She has taught in several high schools in Wichita. However, she has always wanted to be a Grizzly so she is very pleased to be at NW. 17
18. BE POLITE.18
19. “Be polite” means that we all treat each other with kindness. We all use words to build each other up, rather than insult or hurt each other. This also means we use our manners and say “please” and “thank you,” etc. 19
20. Get a homework excuse form from the box. Fill it out and turn it in. Bring my homework to Mrs. Buteyn the next day if I want credit. 20
21. Yes! But not forever! You will not earn full credit for late assignments. However, you have until the end of each quarter to turn in late work. 21
22. For example, if you have a missing assignment in September, you can still turn it in for partial credit prior to the announced due date at the end of the first quarter in October. Furthermore, if you have a missing assignment in November, you have until the announced due date at the end of the second quarter in December. 22
23. Students who are going to college need to work hard in English. You will need to use all of the skills we practice no matter what your major will be. If you want to be ready for college, your goal should be to get at least a B in class.23
24. All employers expect employees to have literacy skills. Literacy is about communication. This means they want people who can read something and understand it, write something that others can understand, listen to other employees, and communicate through speaking professionally. Lucky for you, all of these skills are used each day in English class!24
