1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.
2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.
3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

Take yourselves directly from the cafeteria to the place with the most stories to tell | The library houses many resources for our students and teachers. The Librarian is Nicole Duque and the media clerk is Jennifer Phillips. Along with book checkout, the library houses die cuts, butcher paper, and the news studio. | 3. Locate the place where blank paper is magically transformed into worksheets. | The copy / OR room is managed by Nancy Murdoch. Ms. Murdoch runs copies, laminates, and supports our students who need an “opportunity” to turn their day around. | 4. From the tiled OR room, turn to the carpeted hub of the school. | The main office is where the magic happens. The following offices/staff members are located in the main office: Stella Carpenter, 2-3 Assistant Principal ; Kristine Davis, bookkeeper; Alisa Burckhalter, Administrative Assistant; Loretta Denmark, Principal; Linda O’Connor, Stellar Sub; Lourdes Donis, Receptionist. Other points of interest in the front office include two adult restrooms and the front office conference room. | 5. Attached to the main office, you will find McKendree’s very own “Minute Clinic”. | Kayla Richardson is our school nurse. Students may come to the clinic, with their clinic card, for situations that you cannot triage yourself. Kayla also keeps over the counter medications our faculty and staff. | 6. Located near the clinic, find the home of McKendree’s “SASI-est” adults. | The Registration Suite, is where you can find permanent records and SST/RTI files, as well as the offices of R. Head back from where you came, turning left onto Capital Street. SST/RTI meetings may include the following participants: parent/guardian, homeroom teacher, grade level counselor, grade level AP, Michelle Williams, school psychologist, Monica Taylor or Sheila Johnson, Speech Language Pathologists, support teachers as available. We will discuss SST/RTI procedures at an upcoming Mentor/Mentee meeting. | 10. Find all the emotional and technical support you and your students. | Offices located on Technology Lane are: Technology Support Technician, TBA, Emilie Ogden, K-2 counselor and Lindsey Norcom, 3-5 counselor. The counselors support our students through small group lessons, specials rotations, individual sessions and whole class lessons. Your technology needs are meet by our Technology Support Technician, TBA, and Jenn Colquhoun,our Local School Technology Coordinator(LSTC). Our intervention lab and Computer labs A and B are located on Technology Lane. | 11. Locate the rooms where your students use will make use of the left side of their brains. | All McKendree ES students will have the opportunity to learn art from Barbara Taylor, Expand their minds through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with John Schaefer, and Music with Pat Price. | 12. It is eerily quiet now, but in a few days you will be able to hear the laughter of children, the bouncing balls, and the toot of a whistle. | The gym is home to Babby Dashiell and Dana Marsal, our PE teachers. | 13. Make your way to the penthouse office. While upstairs find the adult bathrooms nearby. | Jenica Johnson, 4-5 Assistant Principal’s office. | 14. Travel the farthest corner of our building, passing Clifford along the way, to another set of adult bathrooms. | One more stop and then you tour will be complete. | 15. Directly across from the doorway your kids will use to enter the cafeteria, you will find the names and mailboxes of your McKendree family members. | The mail room is home to your mailbox.
