-teaches more than just TEKs; teaches (impractical or unfair) values, beliefs, standards, and morals
teach something that could be more important than the explicit curriculum
leaves voices in the margins
not up to the student whether they want to learn, or not learn, this information
teaches history
all teach something in some way
