This idea was suggested by Paul Hart (@paulhart_11) on the IBDP History Teachers Facebook Support Group. As a closing exercise, or a fun activity or competition during the revision period, get students to design a meme poster related to the topic or the subject that you teach. The best posters – those which most effectively humour AND an ‘inside joke’ demonstrating knowledge of the subject – could be printed off, laminated and used as classroom posters.

Taking it further
Allocate different meme types to different students, and even allocate particular topics along with them. In this way you will be guaranteed a wide range of posters on a wide range of themes. Here is a list of the top internet memes of all time.
