Materialistic deprivation - this leads to individuals not having the right equipment and therefore not being able to access the same education that the upper class do.
Labelling theory - teachers impose labels on individuals of lower class and this can end up with them internalizing these and fufilling their teachers' poor expectations.
Ideology of parents - don't believe in the education system & thus are discouraging to their children, providing little support. This does not help motivate them to achieve.
