Created using the ClassTools QR Treasure Hunt Generator

Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

C. TIPS / OTHER IDEAS

Question

Answer

1. The first thing you should do when you get to school is bring your backpack to your desk and unload EVERYTHING you will need for the day. This includes your lunch and/or lunch card, P.E. clothes, school supplies...etc.1
2. After unloading your backpack, you will WALK it upstairs to the closet and place (don't throw) it on one of the top two shelves. The fourth graders will be using the bottom two shelves. This should take less than one minute.2
3. After WALKING back to our room from the closet, you will stop at the desk by the door to mark your name for lunch with a check mark and put anything that needs to go to the office in the large envelope located inside of the desk. The lunch menu for the week will be located on our classroom's south bulletin board.3
4. After marking your name for lunch, you will look on the front board for the homework that needs to be turned in that day. This will be turned in on the back window ledge in numerical order. Make sure your paper has your first name, last name, and number.4
5. After turning in your homework, you will make sure your pencils are sharpened and your supplies are organized for the day. If your desk is dirty, you may ask to use a disinfectant wipe.5
6. After organizing your supplies, complete the morning work written on the front board. Unless I write other instructions on the board, do not tear out or turn in this work...yet. Please keep it in the practice book or put it in a folder for safe keeping until Friday when I collect these assignments. Any unfinished morning work will be homework.6
7. If you have extra time after finishing morning work, you may read or work in your Writer's Notebook. Please keep talking to a minimum as to not disturb others working.7
